Murasaki chester springs3/18/2023 ![]() How We Ranked the Best Restaurants in Chester County: READ: Chester County Weather Forecast for February 5-11, 2023 With so many notable restaurants in Chester County, we created an additional section to recognize restaurants that did not make the top 10 list but absolutely deserved to be highlighted. As a result, their menu changes at least four times a year. The food here is not just good, it is great! We recommend the Short Rib Pomodoro: braised beef short rib, San Marzano Pomodoro sauce, caramelized peppers and onions, wilted spinach, over polenta.ġ05 E Lancaster Ave, Downingtown, PA 19335 Īmani’s BYOB is an award-winning restaurant providing a menu that incorporates the best local and seasonally available ingredients, utilizing local farmers and promoting local business. What would this list be without one of Chester County’s most established restaurants, Ron’s Original Bar & Grille? This establishment has what is likely to be the largest following in Chester County, with many repeat and happy customers. We recommend the Lobster Benedict, which includes two poached eggs with lobster topped with hollandaise sauce served on an English muffin with home fries. Nudy’s Cafes are famous across Chester County but it is their Bridge Street Cafe that makes it onto our list of best restaurants, with some calling it “the best breakfast spot in Phoenixville.” The food is great, the staff is friendly, and the service is quick. Our favorite is their award-winning Sticky Toffee Pudding, a moist cake made with dates, served warm and topped with toffee sauce and fresh whipped cream. They provide an authentic pub atmosphere with traditional English dishes crafted from local, sustainable ingredients. and the Whip Tavern is one of those places. We recommend the Steak Portabello, a 12 once prime New York strip with Cognac mushrooms, tarragon butter and frizzled onions.Įvery community in Chester County has its go-to spot. The food is always delicious, with service that is friendly and efficient. Their Drunken Man’s spicy noodle dish with shrimp was adequate, but the Island Red Curry-served with tofu-lacked aromatics and sweetness to balance the peppery bite.Portabello’s is located in the heart of historic Kennett Square, with a menu that offers something for everyone. Both the crispy coconut spring rolls and the shrimp rolls were excellent and almost completely free of grease. The Thai side of the menu may be abbreviated, but it offers something that’s been lacking in Chester Springs. And with the background music permanently set on “chill,” the Zen-like tranquility is unlike any other sushi spot in the area. Soothing backlit elements reflect the restaurant’s name, while several handsome cut-stone walls and pillars, and a contoured panel mounted behind the sushi bar, imply luxury. To counter the nondescript exterior, owner Anna Cheng and husband Bill Ng-who also operate Mino Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar in Malvern-painstakingly designed the storefront’s interior. Meaning the color purple in Japanese, Murasaki’s name is fitting, as it far transcends the strip-center norm. This meaty jawbone portion is the sweetest part of the mild fish.įrom Left: Crispy coconut spring rolls sushi-and-sashimi combo One is the Hamachi Kama-or grilled yellowtail cheeks-which is served with a ponzu dipping sauce. Somewhat hidden among this typical fare, however, are a few colorful, flavorful gems. A first glance at Murasaki’s menu uncovers nothing unusual: sushi, sashimi, a litany of raw and cooked maki with catchy names, plus Japanese-style entrées and Thai specialties.
